Scaling Innovative Technologies

Africa Harvest Biotech Foundation International is dedicated to advancing agricultural technology to improve food security and empower smallholder farmers. The organization is focusing on mechanization, genetically improved crops, conventional breeding and selection, gene editing, irrigation technologies, and climate-smart farming techniques.

To address food security, the organization is implementing a comprehensive approach that includes defining a research agenda, investing in human capacity, enabling infrastructure, implementing governance structures, strengthening farmer-scientist knowledge exchange, developing appropriate seed systems, creating effective extension services, and advocating for policy reforms. The organization is committed to scaling up and promoting successful innovative agricultural technologies across Africa, including East Africa, West Africa, SADC, and Central Africa.

Over the past two decades, the organization has generated evidence supporting the deployment of science and technology to enhance agricultural productivity and secure food security for smallholder households. To further expand its impact, the foundation will strengthen its communication program and engage with stakeholders on crop productivity issues.
