Invest in Women in Agriculture

Globally, women contribute over a third of the agricultural labor force, this proportion is much
higher at 70% for Africa, which is an agricultural continent accounting for between 30-40% of
its GDP from the sector. The contribution that women make to this sector can therefore not be
underscored as they play a pivotal role in feeding the continent. Despite their important role,
women continue to face numerous challenges and barriers which greatly limit their economic
opportunities due to gender inequalities.
