Rapid adoption of the tissue culture banana technology confirms that Africa Harvest's technology deployment strategies are working, the Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr Joe Kibe, has said.
"It is not only wonderful to see technology uptake, we are encouraged that farmers have gone an extra step to invest in other technologies that will complement TC banana farming to increase overall farm productivity," said Mr Kibe.
He was speaking during a field trip by Board of Directors to the Kenya Horticulture Competitiveness Project (KHCP) which is funded by US Agency for International Development (USAID).
The board visited Mr. Joel Gakuru's farm, one of the members of the Chieni Mwihoko Group. Initially, his orchard was used as a demonstration plot, but he later invested to increase the number to plantlets and installed a drip system for irrigation.
