DR. MICHAEL M. NJUGUNA
is the Deputy Chief Executive Officer, also holding a substantive portfolio of Director Food
Nutritional Security and Sustainable Livelihoods of Smallholders program. He has provided strategic leadership at Africa Harvest in the last 14 years by being a member of the senior management team involved in organizational policy formulation, strategy development and implementation, as well as supervision and evaluation of the program at Africa Harvest.
Dr. Njuguna has over 20 years of international development experience in agricultural research, agri-business development, rural financing, and technology transfer. He is involvement in all phases of project cycle including project initiation, development, monitoring, impact assessment and evaluation. In the last 20 years, he has worked with resource constraint communities to develop innovative approaches that support rural agricultural small enterprise development. He has been involved in designing and implementing appropriate enterprise development models that facilitate access to technology, training, micro finance, market, input, information and infrastructure.
Prior to Africa Harvest, he held the position of Programme Administrator at the International Service for Acquisition of Agri Biotech Applications, in Nairobi (ISAAA AfriCenter) for six years. He holds a Ph.D. in Entrepreneurship Development from Kenyatta University, a M.Sc. in Entrepreneurship Development from JKUAT, a post graduate Certified Diploma in Finance and Accounting (CDipAF) from the UK’s Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and a B.Sc. from the University of Nairobi.
